How customers search

How customers find HVAC companies on Google and in AI

HVAC demand follows the weather. The first hot week of summer brings searches like “AC not cooling”, “AC repair near me” and “AC blowing warm air”. The first cold snap brings “furnace not turning on” and “emergency heating repair”. In between, people plan: “heat pump vs furnace”, “what size AC do I need”, “furnace tune-up cost”.

A homeowner with no cooling in July picks a company from the map pack, the few businesses Google shows on a map, and calls. That part leans on your Google Business Profile, your reviews and distance. The planning searches go to articles, service pages and AI answers, and the company that helped someone choose a heat pump in October is in a good spot when they are ready to buy. Those planning searches, and the service pages behind your repair work, are where SEO for HVAC companies earns its keep.

AI assistants now sit in both moments. People ask ChatGPT why their heat pump blows cold air in heat mode or what a SEER rating means, and the answers sometimes name a company. Our job is the website side of all of it.

What's included

What our SEO for HVAC companies includes

The full SEO work for a heating and cooling company, in one plan, with nothing for your office to learn.

Research on heating and cooling searches

Repair, installation, maintenance and replacement searches in your market, for the systems you service and the towns you cover. We find the keywords other HVAC companies rank for that you do not, and read each search's demand month by month.

30 articles a month, timed to the seasons

One a day, answering what homeowners ask about their systems. A search that peaks in one season goes on your calendar in the three months before its peak or in the peak month.

Service pages for your services

On WordPress (through our plugin) or Shopify, a planned article can become a service page, such as heat pump installation, when people search for it and no page of yours answers.

Site fixes you approve

Titles, descriptions, redirects, sitemaps and business markup with your company's name, address and phone. Each batch waits for your OK, and every fix can be undone. On WordPress, Shopify and custom sites connected through our receiver we write the fixes on your site ourselves. On other platforms you get every fix ready to paste, with the exact steps.

Links from real businesses

90 credits a month in our backlink exchange, matched to your field and country first, never with a competitor you track.

AI answers tracked

70 questions your customers ask, checked every week, with the companies named instead of you and the pages the answers cite.

A real month holds 30 articles, each one targeting a search with proven demand. The months here are an example. The real window for each topic comes from your own market's monthly search data.

Timing

HVAC SEO that is ready before the season starts

An article needs time. It has to be written, published, found by Google and trusted enough to rank, and that rarely happens in the same week a heat wave arrives. For an HVAC company, when an article goes out matters as much as what it says.

So we keep each keyword's search demand month by month. When a search has a clear peak, with its busiest month bringing at least twice the searches of a typical month, the planner treats it as seasonal and puts it on your calendar only in the three months before that peak or in the peak month itself. If furnace repair searches in your market peak in December, those articles go on the calendar from September through December. Cooling topics move the same way toward summer.

Year-round topics, like air filters, thermostat settings or how long a furnace lasts, fill the rest of each month, so your site keeps growing between the rushes. Topics with proven demand come first: a search needs real monthly searches, or impressions in your own Search Console, to earn its place in the plan.

Safety topics

Carbon monoxide, gas leaks and other safety topics

Some HVAC questions are about safety, not comfort: a carbon monoxide alarm going off, a gas smell near the furnace, a burning smell from the vents. A wrong answer there can hurt someone, so these articles follow stricter rules.

When a search names a clear safety risk, such as carbon monoxide or a gas leak, the article states facts carefully and names the kind of authority behind each one, such as a safety regulator or the manufacturer's documentation. It gives general guidance only and carries one short note telling the reader to get a qualified professional for their own case. Every other article gets a check of its own: the writer applies the same rules whenever an article advises on physical safety, judging by what it tells the reader rather than one word, so an article on diagnosing a noisy blower stays a normal repair article.

Our writer is also barred from a few claims on every topic: “100% safe”, “risk-free”, and “the best HVAC company around” without a named source behind it. Nothing about your own company is stated unless your facts give it, so a technician certification, your license, a labor warranty or the terms of your maintenance plan appear only when your business facts hold them, read from your own site or entered by you in the Facts about your business card.

Local SEO

HVAC company local SEO services

For an HVAC company, the service area is the whole market. Customers want someone who can reach their house today, so the map pack decides many no-heat and no-cooling calls.

The map pack reads your Google Business Profile, and we read that profile, we do not run it. Once it is connected, the numbers Google keeps for it, such as views, calls, direction requests and website clicks, sit in your dashboard beside your reviews. When a review needs an answer, a draft reply is one press away, and it reaches Google only when you publish it. Edits, posts and review replies stay in your hands, and no one can promise an HVAC company a spot in the map pack.

Your website is the half we do, as our local SEO services page lays out. On WordPress or Shopify, a planned article can become a service page for a search like “furnace installation” in your area, up to four in any 30 days, inside your monthly count. When your facts hold an address with its town, its local business markup lists your address, phone, hours and service area, taken only from your business facts. Many HVAC companies also do plumbing, and the same plan covers both on one site, as our page on SEO for plumbers shows for the plumbing side.

If you have branches, a branch town can get its own article once your facts tie you to it three ways, for example a street address in it, that branch's hours and a review that mentions the town, and once buyers there search your service by the town's name. For more listings, the Local Citations add-on puts your company in 15 to 100 local directories for $144 to $960, paid once, live within 2 to 6 weeks.

AI assistants

How HVAC companies get recommended by AI assistants

A homeowner whose furnace keeps shutting off after a few minutes might ask ChatGPT what is wrong before calling anyone, then ask Google's AI Mode which local companies service their brand of heat pump. What comes back is built from search results: an assistant tends to pick sites that already rank, answer that exact question and make it obvious who the company is and where it works.

Each of our articles answers its question in the first lines of every section, its FAQ uses questions Google really shows, and your site gets an llms.txt summary for AI assistants. Then the tracking: each week, 70 questions an HVAC customer might ask go to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Your dashboard shows the answers that name you, the competitors named instead and the pages each answer cites. More on AI visibility tracking.

What we do not do for HVAC companies

We do not answer your phones, book jobs, connect to your dispatch software or track calls. We bring customers to your website, and your number and booking form take over. We do not manage your Google Business Profile or answer reviews for you, and we cannot put a company into Google's map pack.

Seasonal planning reads past months of search demand, not the weather forecast, so an early heat wave does not move your calendar by itself. Our safety rules are writing rules, not a review by a licensed technician, so choose drafts for your plan's articles if someone at your company should approve each one first. Paid ads and website builds are not part of what we do, nobody here promises rankings or calls, and we work as a remote team without a local office.

Questions

HVAC SEO: frequently asked questions

What does HVAC SEO cost per month?

Among agencies, $500 to $1,000 a month is the most common retainer, by SE Ranking and Duda's 2025 survey of 260 agencies. Our HVAC SEO services are $149 a month per site, and that covers the season-by-season research, 30 articles a month, fixes, links and AI tracking.

How long until HVAC SEO shows results?

Within your first weeks, the first articles are live and we check that Google indexes them. Impressions on narrow searches, such as one symptom of one kind of system or a service plus your town, usually come over the next months, which is why seasonal articles are planned ahead of their peak. Broad searches like “HVAC company” in a big metro take longest, and nobody can promise a position by a date.

What is included in HVAC SEO?

With us: research on heating and cooling searches in your market, 30 articles a month timed to the seasons, service pages if your site runs on WordPress or Shopify, fixes you approve, backlinks, weekly AI answer tracking, up to 5 full audits a month and a dedicated account manager.

Can AI tools replace HVAC SEO?

No. They can write text but not run the work around it. An HVAC article also needs the right search at the right time of year, careful safety rules, your company's real facts, publishing, an indexing check and links. We use AI for the writing and run every one of those steps.

How do I choose a provider for HVAC SEO?

Choose one whose plan follows the heating and cooling seasons and who shows you the work as it ships. Ask who writes the articles, how carbon monoxide and gas topics are handled, where each link comes from and whether you sign a contract. Walk away from anyone who guarantees rankings or a number of calls.

Will HVAC SEO get me into ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?

No one can guarantee it, since each assistant chooses its own sources. We do the work those answers lean on, pages that rank and answer the question plainly, and every week we show which questions name your company and which competitors are named instead.

When do heating and cooling articles go live?

Ahead of their season. A search with a clear peak goes on your calendar in the three months before its peak month or in the peak month itself, so in a market with cold winters, furnace articles land in the fall and AC articles in the spring. Year-round topics fill the weeks in between.
