How clients search

How clients find law firms on Google and in AI

People look for a lawyer in two moods. Some know they need one now and search โ€œdivorce lawyer near meโ€ or โ€œcar accident attorney in Phoenixโ€. Others are still trying to understand their problem and search โ€œhow is child custody decidedโ€ or โ€œwhat happens after a DUI arrestโ€. Both kinds of search can end with a call to a firm.

Google answers the first kind with a map pack of nearby firms and the firms' own practice-area pages. It answers the second with articles and, more and more often, an AI Overview. AI assistants like ChatGPT answer both, and sometimes name a firm.

The map pack leans on your Google Business Profile, your reviews and where the searcher is. The articles, the practice-area pages and much of what the AI answers quote come from websites. SEO for lawyers is the work on that website half, and it is what we do.

What's included

What our SEO services for lawyers include

Everything a firm needs from SEO, done for you, without hiring a marketer or learning a tool.

Research on what clients search

The legal questions and lawyer searches in your market and practice areas, local words included, and the keywords other firms rank for that you do not. We never write about a city you do not serve.

30 articles a month

One a day, written in plain words under strict legal-topic rules, with markup and links to your practice-area pages. Publish live, or receive drafts and read each one first.

Your site, fixed

Titles, descriptions, redirects, sitemaps and business markup that names your firm as a legal service, with your address, phone and license number when your profile holds them. You approve each batch and can undo it. On WordPress, Shopify and custom sites connected through our receiver we write the fixes on your site ourselves. On other platforms you get every fix ready to paste, with the exact steps.

Links from real businesses

90 credits a month in our backlink exchange, matched to your field first and never with a competitor you track. See backlink safety.

AI answers tracked

70 questions your future clients ask, checked every week in the AI assistants, with the firms named instead of you and the pages the answers cite.

A person to ask

A dedicated account manager for your firm and priority 24/7 support. Every request gets a ticket number and a reply from our team.

Legal topics

Legal content written with care

A legal page can change what a reader does about their situation, so Google holds such pages to a higher standard. Because your firm works in a legal field, every article we write for you follows our stricter rules for legal topics:

  • Facts are stated carefully and credited to the kind of source they come from, such as a statute, a court or a government agency. We never invent a citation, a study or a statistic.
  • Articles explain how things generally work, with words like โ€œdepending on your situationโ€ where the answer truly depends on the reader. They never give legal advice on a specific matter.
  • Where a reader could act on what they read, one short note tells them to consult an attorney about their own case.
  • When an article links to an outside source, the source comes from a list checked for your project, such as government pages and professional bodies. Each one is opened first to make sure it works, and an article links at most three.
  • Some claims never appear: โ€œthe best lawyer in townโ€ or โ€œ#1โ€ unless a named source says it, and โ€œrisk-freeโ€ or โ€œ100% safeโ€.

Your control

Your firm reads what we publish

You decide how much reaches your site without you. Articles can go live on their own, or arrive on your site as drafts that you review and publish yourself. You can also switch off automatic publishing, and edit any article in your dashboard, before or after it goes live.

You can give the writer standing instructions that apply to every article: practice areas to leave out, topics you never want covered, claims and words your firm never uses. The Facts about your business card holds what we may say about the firm itself, read from your site first, and your word always beats the site. Anything else goes to your account manager as a ticket.

What we do not do is check your content against your state bar's advertising rules. Those rules differ from state to state and are your firm's call. That is exactly why the draft setting exists: a lawyer at your firm can read every article of your plan before it reaches the public.

A real month holds 30 articles. Each one targets one search with proven demand and links to the right practice-area page of yours. Rules differ by state, so articles explain the general picture and point readers to an attorney for their own case.

Local SEO

Local SEO and practice-area pages for law firms

Local SEO for a firm has two halves. The first is your Google Business Profile: categories, hours, photos, reviews and address. That half stays yours. Connect it, and your dashboard shows your profile, its views, calls, direction requests and website clicks, and your reviews. When you want to answer a review, you can press Draft a reply, edit the draft and publish it on Google yourself. We do not answer reviews for you, edit your profile or post on it, and we cannot put a firm into Google's map pack.

The second half is your website, and that is ours. Searches like โ€œdivorce lawyer in your cityโ€ land on practice-area pages, so our articles link to yours, each article to the one page a reader would go to next. More on the local side in our local SEO services.

On WordPress with our plugin, or on Shopify, the system can also turn a planned article into a new service page when a buying search such as โ€œestate planning attorney in your cityโ€ has no page of yours yet. These pages count inside your monthly articles, at most four in any 30 days, and carry local business markup built only from your business facts: your firm's name, address, phone, hours and service area. We do not build a page for every practice area on request, and we never guess an address or invent an office.

A firm with offices in several cities can also get an article about a city, but only when your facts hold three local facts there, such as a street address in that city, that office's hours and a proof that names the city, such as a review. We do not build location pages as such.

For more local signals, the Local Citations add-on opens once your plan is paid. It lists your firm in 15 to 100 directories for $144 to $960, paid once, with a report of every live listing.

AI assistants

How law firms get recommended by AI assistants

More people now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI Mode what to do after an accident, or which kind of lawyer handles a will, before they search for a firm. The answers lean on pages that rank in search and on the sources the assistants trust, and careful pages are the ones an assistant can quote safely.

So we write with AI answers in mind: every section opens with a direct answer, the FAQs hold the questions Google really shows, and your site gets an llms.txt summary for AI assistants. Then we measure it. Every week we ask 70 questions your future clients ask in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, and show which answers name your firm, which firms are named instead and which pages the answers cite. More on AI visibility tracking.

Who it's for

Who our SEO company for lawyers fits best

Think of us as an SEO agency for lawyers without the agency invoice. We fit best when:

  • People search for your practice areas, but your site rarely shows up
  • Nobody at the firm has time to write articles every week
  • You want every article written carefully, with no advice on a specific matter
  • A lawyer at your firm wants to read articles before they go live
  • Your site runs on WordPress or another platform we publish to
  • You serve clients in one city or a few, and want those searches covered
  • You run several firm sites, and want 10% off every site once you have two

Choosing

How to choose the best law firm SEO company

There is no best SEO company for every firm. A solo criminal defense practice and a large personal injury firm need different things. Start from what you need done and what your firm can do itself.

Then ask every law firm SEO company the same questions. What ships every month, and who writes it? How are legal claims checked, and can a lawyer at your firm read each article before it goes live? Where do the links come from? Is there a contract? Who does the Google Business Profile work?

Be careful with promises. A criminal defense SEO expert or a lawyers SEO agency that guarantees first place on Google, or a number of new cases, is guessing. Look for one that shows you the work as it happens and lets you judge it on your own numbers.

Our answers: 30 articles a month written under legal-topic rules, drafts whenever you want them, links from real business sites through our exchange, no contract, and the profile stays yours. More on how we write in our SEO content writing services.

What we do not do for law firms

We do not give legal advice, and our articles never advise on a specific matter. We do not check what we publish against your state bar's advertising rules or any other regulator's, so choose drafts if a lawyer at your firm should approve each article first. Drafts cover the articles of your plan. If your site takes part in our backlink exchange, the posts it hosts for other members go live on their own, under the exchange's own switch.

We do not manage your Google Business Profile, answer your reviews for you, run paid ads or handle intake calls, and we cannot put a firm into Google's map pack. We do not build websites or promise rankings or cases. We are a remote team with no office in your city.

Questions

SEO for lawyers: frequently asked questions

Which SEO company is best for lawyers?

The one whose work you can see and whose promises match what SEO can do. Ask what ships every month, how legal claims are checked, where the links come from and whether there is a contract. Avoid any company that guarantees rankings or cases.

What does SEO agency stand for?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. An SEO agency is a company that does that work for you: research, content, technical fixes and links that help your site show up in search, and now in AI answers too.

Can lawyers advertise on Facebook?

Generally yes. Lawyers in the US may advertise, and many firms run Facebook ads, but each state bar sets its own advertising rules, so check yours before you run one. We do not run paid ads. Our work is your site's organic search.

What does SEO for lawyers cost per month?

Ahrefs' survey of 439 SEO providers found the most common retainer at $501 to $1,000 a month, with agencies averaging about $3,200. SeoVision costs $149 a month per site, with research, 30 articles, site fixes, backlinks and AI tracking included.

How long until SEO for lawyers shows results?

Your first articles go live and are checked for indexing in the first weeks. Impressions on specific legal questions usually come over the next months. Competitive searches like โ€œpersonal injury lawyerโ€ in a big city take much longer. Nobody can promise a position by a date.

What is included in SEO for lawyers?

With us: research on what clients search, 30 articles a month written under legal-topic rules, technical fixes you approve, backlinks, AI answer tracking, up to 5 full audits a month and a dedicated account manager.

Can our firm review articles before they go live?

Yes. Choose drafts, and every article of your plan waits unpublished for you to read, change and publish. You can also edit any article in your dashboard and give the writer topics and claims it must never use.

Let us do your firm's SEO while you practice law.
