GEO and AEO Agency: Become a Source AI Answers Can Cite

SeoVision is an AEO agency that works on one question: when your buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews about your category, does the answer name you and cite your pages? We make your site easy to find, read and quote, then ask 70 prompts every week in each assistant to show you what changed. It is part of one plan, $149 a month per site.

What GEO and AEO are, and how they differ from SEO

Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the work of getting your brand named and your pages cited in answers written by AI: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Google's AI Mode. Answer engine optimization (AEO) came first and aims at the direct answer a search engine shows, from featured snippets to Google's AI Overviews.

In practice the two overlap so much that we treat them as one job. Classic SEO wins a place in a list of ten links. GEO and AEO win a sentence inside an answer, and sometimes the link beside it. The foundation is the same: a site search engines can crawl, pages that answer real questions and other sites that vouch for you. What changes is the shape of the win and the way you measure it.

It helps to separate two wins. A mention is your brand named in the text of an answer. A citation is a link to a page the answer used as a source. You can be cited without being named, when an answer quotes your guide but recommends someone else, and named without being cited. We track both, because they ask for different work: mentions grow with what other sites say about you, citations with pages that answer the question well.

That is also how this page differs from our AI SEO agency page. That one covers the whole service for Google and AI search. This one goes deep on AI answers: how they pick sources, what we change on your site for them and how we count your citations.

How citations work

How AI answers choose which sources to cite

Each assistant works a little differently, but the path from a question to a cited page has the same four stops. Your site can help or hurt at every one of them.

  1. 1

    The assistant searches

Assistants that search the web, like ChatGPT search and Perplexity, turn the question into searches and read the pages that come back. Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode draw on pages in Google's own index. A page that is not indexed is not in the pool.

  2. 2

It has to be able to read you

If robots.txt blocks an AI crawler, or your key text only appears after JavaScript runs, the assistant may see an empty page. That is why AI crawler access is the first thing we check.

  3. 3

It picks what it can quote

Pages that answer the question in the first lines, with clear headings, plain facts and structured data, are easier to lift into an answer than pages that bury the point.

  4. 4

It weighs who else says so

Assistants lean on pages that rank and on sources they trust. What other sites in your field say about you is part of the picture, not only your own pages.

What's included

What's included in our GEO and AEO services

Every item below is part of the plan on every site, and each one works on a stop of the path above.

Answer-first articles

30 articles a month, one a day. Each opens with a direct answer, uses clear headings, carries FAQ markup built from real questions and names an author with a bio, with honest published and updated dates.

Schema markup on your pages

Your business, website and breadcrumbs, products, ratings from your real reviews and the questions already on your pages, added as structured data and checked for errors.

Doors open for AI crawlers

We open robots.txt to the AI crawlers you choose and find text that only appears after JavaScript runs, which AI crawlers often miss. When your host blocks them, you get the message to send your host.

llms.txt for your site

We write llms.txt, a plain summary of your site for AI assistants, and put it on your site. Curious what yours would say? Try our free llms.txt generator.

Product data for AI shopping

For WooCommerce and Shopify stores we show each product's characteristics on its page and write selling points and shoppers' questions from your own product text. WooCommerce stores also get a daily product feed for Google Shopping, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Microsoft. It opens once your plan is paid.

Mentions on real sites

90 backlink exchange credits a month put links to you inside articles on other members' business sites, mostly in your field. Press releases on news sites are an add-on once your plan is paid.

How we work

How we do GEO and AEO for your site, step by step

The same four moves, in the same order, on every site. Nothing on your site changes without your OK.

  1. 1

    We record your starting point

Setup suggests prompts from your buyer research, a separate set for each assistant, and you can edit them or upload your own. The first weekly scans record where you stand before anything changes.

  2. 2

We open your site to AI

The audit checks which AI crawlers your robots.txt lets in, whether you have llms.txt and whether Google's AI Overviews cite you. The fixes for crawler access, llms.txt and schema come to you as batches to approve.

  3. 3

    We publish pages worth quoting

One answer-first article a day from your plan, written to your brand brief and read by an AI editor, then checked on your live site and, with Search Console connected, checked for indexing.

  4. 4

    We measure every week

Every prompt is asked again in every assistant you track. You see which answers name you, who is named instead and which sources they lean on, week after week, with the history kept.

Measurement

How we measure AI citations and mentions

We ask the prompts your buyers ask, every week, in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Each assistant gets its own set, because people ask ChatGPT differently from Perplexity. Every answer is read for your brand, your competitors and the sources it cites. This is what you see in your dashboard.

MeasureWhat it tells you
VisibilityThe share of answers that name your brand, per prompt and per assistant
PositionWhere you appear when an answer lists several brands
SentimentHow positive the answers that name you are
CompetitorsWhich brands are named instead of you, how often and in what position
Cited sourcesThe domains and pages the answers rely on, your own site included when it appears, so you know where you need to be mentioned
Prompt demandEach prompt's Google search volume, refreshed weekly, and how hard its cited sources are to get into
AI search gapsPrompts where assistants name your competitors in most answers and never you, flagged on your Overview
AI Overviews in your auditWhether Google shows an AI Overview for your searches and whether it cites your site

A scan that fails is retried the next morning, so an outage does not leave a hole in your history. Each market and language is tracked separately, and you can upload your own prompts as a CSV. Need more than 70? Add 70 prompts for $80 a month.

DIY or done for you

GEO and AEO services vs checking AI answers yourself

You can start on your own today. Ask the assistants the questions your buyers ask, run our free AI citation checker to see whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity cite your site for a buyer question and which domains win instead, and use the AI crawler checker to see which AI bots your site lets in.

Where doing it by hand stops working is scale and memory. AI answers change with the wording, the day and the assistant, so the same question asked twice can name different brands. One check tells you little. A useful picture needs dozens of prompts, asked in several assistants, week after week, with the history kept.

The sources are the other half, and the half most people skip. Each domain the answers cite is sorted by type, from publishers and reference sites to forums like Reddit and companies' own sites, and rated by how hard it is to get into. That tells you where effort pays: your own pages, the sites in your field that mention you, or the places the answers already look for your topic.

That is what the tracking does. The rest of the plan then does the work that moves it: the articles, the fixes and the links.

Who we are

Who does the work at our GEO and AEO agency

SeoVision is a remote team that builds and runs its own software. As a GEO agency we do not sell hours. The research, writing, checks and scans run every day in our system, and people on our team watch over them.

Every paying project gets a health check each morning, a dedicated account manager and priority 24/7 support. Every request gets a ticket number and a reply from our team. You can also work with us from your own assistant: connect SeoVision to Claude or ChatGPT through our MCP connection, then check your results and manage your project by asking.

Timeline

When you will see results in AI answers

Some changes land fast. A robots.txt fix or an llms.txt file goes live minutes after you approve it, and assistants that search the web can read a page once it is crawled and indexed.

Other changes take months. New articles have to be indexed and earn trust before they rank, and AI answers tend to follow pages that rank. What an assistant knows without searching comes from its training data, which changes only when a new model version ships. Nobody can speed that part up.

So we measure from day one. Your first scans are your starting point, and every week after shows which prompts moved, in which assistant, and which sources the answers switched to.

What nobody can promise about AI answers

No agency controls what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI says. Answers differ by wording, by person and by day, and the AI companies change their systems often. Anyone who guarantees a citation is guessing. We promise the work and an honest weekly count, not the outcome.

We track ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Assistants outside that list are not in the count. On WordPress, Shopify and custom sites connected through our receiver we write the fixes on your site ourselves. On other platforms you get every fix ready to paste, with the exact steps.

Questions

GEO and AEO agency: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between GEO and AEO?

GEO, generative engine optimization, aims at answers written by AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. AEO, answer engine optimization, came first and aims at direct answers in search, from featured snippets to Google's AI Overviews. The work overlaps almost entirely, so we do both as one.

What does an AEO agency do?

It makes your pages easy for answer engines to find, read and quote, and it measures how often they do. With SeoVision that means answer-first articles with FAQ markup, schema on your pages, AI crawler access, llms.txt, links from real sites and weekly tracking of 70 prompts.

How much do GEO and AEO services cost?

There is no standard price yet. Providers sell it as a retainer, a project or part of an SEO plan. With SeoVision it is part of the plan at $149 a month per site, with no contract.

Can you guarantee my brand appears in ChatGPT or AI Overviews?

No, and nobody honestly can. The AI companies decide what their answers say. We do the work that makes your site easier to cite and show you every week which prompts mention you, in which assistant, and who is named instead.

How do you measure AI citations?

We ask your prompts in every assistant you track, every week, and read each answer for your brand, your position, the tone, the competitors named and the sources cited. You see it per prompt, per assistant and per market, with the history kept.

How long until GEO and AEO show results?

Technical changes are live within minutes of your OK. Content and links build over months, and AI answers tend to follow pages that rank. The weekly scans show the change as it happens, with your first week as the baseline.

Does GEO replace SEO?

No. AI answers lean on pages that rank and on sources the assistants trust, so SEO is the ground GEO stands on. That is why our plan does both, and why our AI SEO agency page covers the Google side too.

Does llms.txt help?

llms.txt is a proposed format for giving AI assistants a clean summary of your site, and not every assistant says it reads it. We add it because it costs you nothing and removes one reason to be misread. It is one small part of the work, not a shortcut.
